Why Do We Have Hot Cross Buns For Easter

The hot cross buns are one of the earliest Easter traditions. How did it start?

It began with the European monks. They made the treat during Lent and gave them to the poor. I must say, I love waking up Easter morning, before church and enjoying a hot cross bun with coffee.
