All of those in-app purchases your kid made while you weren’t looking probably had you seeing red. But relax, you’re about to get paid.
Amazon has announced they will issue refunds for your kids’ in-app purchases.
As much as $70 million may be eligible for refunds because the Federal Trade Commission and Amazon agreed to drop a lawsuit over parental consent when it comes to in-app purchases.
The FTC’s argument was that Amazon didn’t get the parents’ consent and kids had no limit to the virtual items they could buy within the apps and games. Federal courts sided with the FTC, according to a report from CNET. Both Apple and Google had to pay up for the same thing.
The $70 million covers unauthorized purchases made between November 2011 and May 2016. Amazon will handle the refund process and will announce more details soon.
