One of December’s most underrated traditions are staff holiday parties, where co-workers get sloshed and flirt or fight or sing drunken karaoke. The result may be an ill-advised rendition of the R. Kelly classic 2003 song “Ignition (Remix),” which is precisely how this Adam Levine party cover sounds on paper.

The resulting clip is actually something quite different, though. For one, it is from The Voice‘s Top 5 party, not their Christmas bash. Secondly, Levine nails the rendition. He even knows the song on guitar and accompanies himself.

Still, this song wasn’t made to be recorded and disseminated across the interwebs, so the “untouchable” status of the tune isn’t really at play here.
