Diane’s Maine Trip: The Popovers
I am planning on another trip to Maine in a few weeks, our third trip to that beautiful state. We were in the Bar Harbor area. Have you ever had a Popover? More about this tasty New England treat.
This Maine tradition has been around since the late 1800s. For the longest time you could only get Maine popovers at the Jordan Pond House, a great place to eat in the middle of Acadia National Park. Blueberry tea and popovers have delighted sophisticated summer visitors for over a hundred years. Today, the Jordan Pond House serves lobster, and other fine dining items. The original house burned in the 1980′s. The current House has a large dining room, patio and fancy picnic table seating areas, all facing the amazing pond in this 5 star American gem, Acadia National Park.
They taste like a light, airy bread. Which means, you can’t have just one! The Popovers are served as bread or as an afternoon tea item.
