At about 9:30, my friends and I were thinking (after the Orioles left the bases loaded twice) that we were done. It would be another disappointing loss. And, that a loss would kill the team’s spirit and momentum during this 2014 season.
Then, a struggling Chris Davis came to the plate as a pinch hitter. He killed the ball. As soon as it left the bat, the remaining 13,000 or so went nuts. We knew it right away. And, this 3-run home run was a little different. I felt like it was in the air for about 15 minutes.
Now, to me, the game represents a positive momentum shift and could be the spark the team needs to carry on for the rest of the season.
It reminds me of the Doug DeCinces Orioles magic home run of 1979. It was truly a great moment for the Chris and the team.
