So many references to Friday 13th in history. Here are few and some facts on the fear surrounding this day….

A biblical reference with Judas, the apostle who betrayed Jesus. There were the 12th disciples and he was the 13th guest to the Last Supper.

Research from the University of Delaware in Newark, said “the number 13 suffers because of its position after 12″. They say, 12 is considered to be a “complete” number. Check this out from the National Geographic: There are 12 months in a year, 12 signs of the zodiac, 12 gods of Olympus, 12 labors of Hercules, 12 tribes of Israel, and 12 apostles of Jesus.

The fear of the number 13 is found everywhere. When was the last time you saw the 13th floor. How about airports, no 13th gate. Hospitals and hotels skip the room number 13.

Florence, Italy is really superstitious. Houses there between number 12 and 14 are addressed as 12 and a half!

The fear of 13 is known as this condition, triskaidekaphobes.

Some refer to tragedy with the number 13. Remember the ill-fated mission to the moon, Apollo 13.

So on this Friday 13th ponder this. Back to the Bible. Some biblical scholars believe Eve tempted Adam in the Garden Of Eden with the forbidden fruit on a Friday. There is a belief that Abel was slain by Cain on Friday the 13th.
