In a world of “new new new,” I’m kinda glad that the ACM Entertainer of the Year is 61 year old George Strait. He’s had an incredible career and he’s able to keep the hits coming. I worked at WCAO, an AM country station, in the late 80’s and early 90’s, when country music began a real comeback. I loved listening to George Strait tunes. Back then, I always knew he was the cool/smooth not “over-flashy” guy that would stand the test of time. I included him in there with Garth Brooks. Yesterday’s show included a lot of young stars with baseball hats, tattoos, and flare. But, in the end, slow and steady won the race. Congrats on the great career. Here’s to 20 more years, Mr. Strait.
