Halloween Fleetwood Mac Concert Wearing This
Fleetwood Mac is coming to the Verizon Center, October 31. Christine Mc Vie is finally on board, very excited! A Fleetwood Mac or Stevie Nicks tour will always have the women who dress up like Stevie. In the picture, from 2007, I was having fun at my photographer’s studio. We wanted to capture the ‘famous album pose’. It wasn’t easy to get the shot, but easy to dress the part. So how did Stevie get that look?
“I was very influenced by Janis Joplin,” Stevie said during an interview, “the one time I saw Janis in person, and all the times I saw her on television with her feathers and her bell-bottomed pants and her beautiful silky blouse tops.” Stevie travelled to San Francisco to the Velvet Underground in at attempt to re-create her look. “It was a tiny little store, but it had the most beautiful things,” Nicks recalls. “Tunic tops that came down to your mid-thigh, and evening gown, old-lady nightgown material bell-bottoms that weren’t really wide, but instead fell straight over a really high boot.It was in that room where I thought ‘Wow! These are the kind of clothes I’m going to wear forever.’”
Stevie Nicks said in 2001 interview, “I developed [my clothing style] before the ‘Rumours’ album with my designer, Margi Kent, that I met in the first year of Fleetwood Mac,” Nicks told the local Massachusetts radio station. “I told her, ‘I need to have a uniform. We have to think of something that looks good. [Kent told her] ‘We can make three skirts, three tops, and have your shoes and your little, you know … a couple of wraps and jackets and you’re ready to go.’ And that’s what I did”. “And the outfit that’s on the ‘Rumours’ cover is exactly the same outfit that’s on the ‘Shangri-La’ cover. It’s the same outfit that’s on the ‘Bella Donna’ cover,” Nicks said. “It’s a timeless outfit, and it has made my life much easier because I don’t ever have to think about it.”
Back to my “attempt” as a rock and roll fashion plate…my outfit was easy. I had a flowing, gothic knee-length black chiffon dress. I used a Halloween cape and DONE, I was Stevie Nicks! The crystal ball I found at Target:)
