This week we are doing the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center Tie Auction. We have so many wonderful ties (and extras) to auction off. The ties are designed by children who are or have been Hopkins patients and are autographed by celebrities. This is the first year I have done this auction. It is an honor.
Here’s a bit of a “behind-the-scenes” look. The morning show is hectic normally but add in the tie auction and it becomes even busier. Our interview this morning was with Anthony Pagan, who is 9 years old and a leukemia survivor. What an awesome kid. I informed Greg that I may need to “turn off” my brain for a bit while we interview Anthony because I was getting so emotional. As a mom, I can’t imagine what Anthony’s family has had to go through…not to mention what this child has had to endure.
I’ll tell you, I made it through the morning without breaking down and I thank God for that. So, when you are listening to our “cheery” interviews, remember that these children and their families are real and that Greg and I are struggling to keep it together as we interview them.
Please call in with your bid or pledge. What an amazing gift at this time of year. Thank you!!!!
