The wait is almost over to hear new music from Gavin DeGraw.
The singer told The Hollywood Reporter that his new song should premiere in “six weeks” and that he should be done recording the album “within the month.”
“We really hit it pretty hard as far as getting everything together as efficiently as possible and not wasting much time,” he said.
DeGraw’s not giving away too many details about the follow-up to his 2011 album, Sweeter, including the name of the album or the first single. “I don’t want to jump the gun,” he explained.
He did share though that he is once again teaming up with OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder, who co-wrote “Sweeter” and “Not Over You” off his last album.
Last year, DeGraw told Radio.com that holing up with Tedder in the studio for Sweeter made him realize just how talented the songwriter was.
“I like his persona,” DeGraw said. “He’s confident, but he’s excitable. You know, he’s inspired. He’s someone who has the right to exude his confidence. It’s not an act. This is a person who is truly gifted and should be as confident as he is.”
For this album—DeGraw’s fifth–the two have been going back and forth with lyrics via the Internet.
“We video chat,” he said. “We’re very modern in that way.”
