Yesterday marked the first ever Race for the Cure in Ocean City. What a day it was.
It’s interesting. The boardwalk was wet. The stage was wet. People were soaked. But, they all came out in full support of a great cause as yesterday’s event was the first ever Race for the Cure in Ocean City. Over 3,600 people came together to raise money for Komen Maryland. What a run it was.
But before I tell you about the run, I have to tell you how special the parade of pink was. Each year at the Race for the cure in Hunt Valley, there is a parade of all breast cancer survivors. The tradition continued in Ocean City. There were smiles of pride all over the place and there were some tears. It was very special to see all the survivors in the parade and as they lined up to take their survivor photo.
The run was great…though wet. Ocean City is a great place to run as it’s flat. There is nothing better than to be running on the boardwalk with the ocean on your right. And, it was pretty cool to run on Baltimore Ave back to the inlet. You get a feeling of old town Ocean City.
Thumbs up on the first ever Race for the Cure in OC. We’ll have to mark our calendars for next year’s race!
