Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter and producer, Bruno Mars, has already proven with his debut album, Doo-wops and Hooligans, that he knows how to make women feel sexy because he loves you “Just The Way You Are.”

Mars, who came in at #30 on GQ‘s “Most Stylish Young Men in Hollywood” list, was dubbed by the magazine as “a master of throwback style,” elaborating that he’s “one part Elvis, one part Sinatra, one part R&B charmer.”

The retro-coiffed crooner got to show off his vintage style on the April cover of Playboy magazine’s “Sex and Music” issue. Posing with Miss April, Raquel Pomplun, Mars is the tenth man to ever be on a Playboy cover since its 1953-inception by media icon, Hugh Hefner.

The other famous male faces who have appeared on the cover of Playboy? Peter Sellers, April 1964; Burt Reynolds, October 1979; Steve Martin, January 1980; Donald Trump, March 1990; Dan Aykroyd, August 1993; Jerry Seinfeld, October 1993; Leslie Nielsen, February 1996; Gene Simmons, March 1999; Seth Rogen, April 2009.

In a candid interview with the magazine, Mars listed some of his musical influences, which, fittingly, include the aforementioned Sinatra and Presley.

“Growing up in the showbiz world, I looked up to those guys: Frank Sinatra and of course Elvis Presley. My dad was into the 1950s doo-wop era,” said Mars. “If you look at those groups, or at James Brown, Jackie Wilson and the Temptations in the 1960s, you’ll see you had to be sharp onstage.”

Mars said he’d most like to work with Jimi Hendrix because “he’s the greatest guitar player in the world” and that his album his “called Doo-Wops & Hooligans, but it’s not a 1950s Earth Angel sound like you hear in Grease-type movies.”

“I could sing you a thousand and one doo-wop songs,” Mars elaborated. “I love the simplicity in that music. It’s not superpoetic, it’s just from the heart.”

His hairstyle for that perfect modern pompadour look is not quite as simple.

Mars told Playboy that he calls his hairstyle “the Wamp and Stomp.”

“I can’t give you exact measures but it’s a lot of margarine, natural fruit juices and berries and, surprisingly, barbecue potato Popchips…It stays in place for a while after that.”
