It could be that the word ‘Summer’ is in the title; maybe it just brings back a summertime memory; or maybe Summer just happened to be the first time you heard the song. Whatever the reason, here are five of our favorite songs that make you think of Summer.

5. California Gurls – Katy Perry

This song became the summer song of 2010 with [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Katy Perry[/lastfm] going for the “90’s, skating rink” feel on the album.  She succeeded with this, and it’s still sticking around for the beginning of the summer of 2011!

4. Say Hey (I Love You) – Michael Franti

Maybe it makes you think of that summer fling you had back in the day, or one you’re having right now.  [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Michael Franti[/lastfm]’s Say Hey is just a fun song that makes you feel good on a hot summer day lounging by the pool.

3. Miami – Will Smith

Back to the late 90’s for a song from [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Will Smith[/lastfm] that makes you feel like it’s 90 degrees out no matter when you listen.  It’s a great song for partying by the pool or at the beach during the summer months, or even dreaming of being in warm Miami during the cold winter months.

2. Summer Love – Justin Timberlake

What can be more of a summer song than a song with the word summer in the title?  [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Justin Timberlake[/lastfm]’s song always seems to make a return to the airwaves every year.  It doesn’t matter if you’re having a bad day, JT’s Summer Love will always make you feel awesome.

1. Summertime – DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince

Going back in the day with this one from [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince[/lastfm].  This has to be the official song of summer every single year.  Makes you just want to be outside partying maybe, playing in the pool or a sprinkler, or even the fire hydrant.  This is one of my all time favorite summer songs!  How ’bout you?
