Arcade Fire Wins Album Of The Year At 2011 GRAMMY Awards
Montreal rockers [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Arcade Fire[/lastfm] scored a big upset tonight, taking home the GRAMMY for Album of the Year. “What the hell?” was the band’s response when accepting the award before they thanked their Canadian fans in French. They then picked up their instruments and re-took their spots on stage to perform again as some GRAMMY-go’ers made their exit from The Staples Center.
Arcade Fire beat out Lady Gaga, Eminem, Lady Antebellum, and Katy Perry for music’s most prestigious award.
Eminem had been nominated for Album of the Year three times. “Recovery” was the #1 selling album of 2010. And with 10 nominations total for this year, many thought this would finally be his year.
