Built in 1911, the Emerson Tower once housed the offices and factory of Captain Isaac Emerson, the developer of Bromo-Seltzer. It is 288 feet high and at one time was topped with a 51 foot, 17 ton Bromo-Seltzer bottle. The bottle was removed in 1930, and in 1967 the Bromo-Seltzer business was moved to Pennsylvania by the company that purchased The Emerson Drug Company. The tower is faced with what is reported to be the largest four-dial gravity clock in the world.
